ADJUDICATOR: IAN RUSSELL

Ian studied violin with Beryl Kimber at the Elder Conservatorium and undertook diplomas in Education as well as Business and HR.

He has taught violin in the public school system in SA since 1977 in a wide range of school with high levels of success and served as conductor of the state’s prestigious Primary Schools’ Orchestra (PSSO) and held positions in leadership and management in instrumental music in the public education system for over 15 years.

He held the position of State President of Australian Strings Association (AUSTA) and then National President for a combined period of over 10 years. He has also been the recipient of AUSTA SA Distinguished Teacher Award. In addition he plays with the Unley Symphony Orchestra and in his spare time is active in his church and makes red wine for fun!
