The Balaklava Eisteddfod Society looks forward to seeing both new

20th Balaklava Eisteddfod weekend!

Notes

Dear entrants and supporters of the 20th Balaklava Eisteddfod,

If this is your first time entering we give you a warm welcome and trust that your experience with us will be a positive and fruitful one as well as enjoyable. If you have entered before we are delighted to have you back and thank you for your continued support.

Entrants will need a copy of the Rules & Conditions of Entry for your reference. This has been updated for 2016

Updated 2016 Syllabus Notes for your reference. It is advised to print the notes pertaining to alll Disciplines you intend to enter and read carefully.

In 2016, competitions will be held in the following DISCIPLINES

FRIDAY PROGRAMME

BANDS & INSTRUMENTAL ENSEMBLE PROGRAM

► Concert, Stage Band Discipline (10 or more instruments)
* Note: Only up to 2 singers in Stage Bands

► Rock Band Discipline (4-9 members) * New criteria *
* junior, intermediate & senior rock band sections * (NO open)

► Instrumental Ensemble Discipline (4-9 Instruments)

 

CHORAL PROGRAM

► Choir Discipline (Minimum 10 voices) Competitive * NEW *

► Choral Workshop Discipline (Minimum 10 voices) Non-competitive

► Vocal Ensemble Discipline (4 - 9 voices)

CONTEMPORARY VOCAL DISCIPLINE (Amplified Voice)

MUSICAL THEATRE DISCIPLINE

VOCAL DISCIPLINE (Classical & Popular)

» Solo Sections

» Ensemble Sections (2-4 voices) * previously was duet & trio

» Entrants aged 15-20 years in the Vocal - Classical Sections are eligible for the APMVC Vocal Scholarship - To enter the Vocal Scholarship entry form must be filled out, signed and returned to Balaklava Eisteddfod. See APMVC Vocal Scholarship letter for details.

 

INSTRUMENTAL PROGRAM

INSTRUMENTAL DISCIPLINE

» Solo Sections - This Includes a Novice section for 1st instrument only, learning 18 months or less prior to competition. Verification of Novice Eligibility is required.

» Small Ensemble Sections (2-4 instruments)
* previously was duet & trio

 

PIANO PROGRAM

PIANO DISCIPLINE

» Solo Sections - This Includes Novice for 1st instrument only, learning 18 months or less prior to competition, and “Have A Go” (non-competitive) Sections. Verification of Novice Eligibility is required.

» Duet Sections

 

SPEECH & DRAMA PROGRAM

SPEECH & DRAMA DISCIPLINE

» Drama or Recitation Solo Sections

» Group Drama (ensemble - 2-4 performers)
* previously was duologue & trialogue

» Prose or Poetry Reading Sections

» Public Speaking Sections


  • Sponsorship Opportunities - Contact Lenice Cox (08) 88621173 or email leniceandpetercox@bigpond.com. All donations gratefully accepted as we do not receive any government assistance and rely on the generosity of sponsors to run the Balaklava Eisteddfod.
  • There is also the opportunity to make an donation with your entry.
  • ACCOMPANISTS - Entrants are to provide their own accompanists for rehearsal and performance day. ENTRANTS MUST NAME THEIR ACCOMPANIST where indicated.
  • INSTRUMENTAL ENTRANTS MUST LIST THE INSTRUMENT TO BE PLAYED IN EACH SECTION where indicated.
  • PLEASE NOTE: CD players are not provided in any section other than the Contemporary Vocal Section. At the Contemporary Vocal Section, ONLY CD backing disks are acceptable for use in the sound system. Do not bring any other form of media. Live accompaniment is also acceptable.
  • Booking in prior to performance - Entrants must book in at least within the 30 minutes prior to commencement of their division, however they may book in earlier at any time.

SUNDAY FINALE CONCERT

7th August 2016 at the Balaklava Town Hall - 2.30pm

Featuring

  • performances by Championship winners and invited performers from the previous days' competitions
  • adjudication of the Adelaide Plains Male Voice Choir Vocal Scholarship
  • performances by the Combined Mid North Primary Schools Festival of Music Choirs
